DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to a groundbreaking celebration for Austin Community College's new Hays Campus at 10 a.m. Wednesday\, June 27. The event   featuring live music\, a college fair\, and refreshments   will be at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (979 Kohlers Crossing in Kyle)\, across from the future campus site.\n\n"ACC is extremely proud to serve in a community that values the education of its citizens\," says Dr. Richard Rhodes\, ACC president/CEO. "Through the partnership between ACC and Hays CISD residents\, the area gains critical access to affordable higher education and career training opportunities that benefit everyone."\n\nConstruction of a college campus follows annexation of Hays CISD into the ACC District. Residents approved annexation in 2010\, becoming eligible for ACC's in-district tuition rate and paving the way for the new campus.\n\nThe Hays Campus will be located on 98 acres at Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Parkway. The three-story structure will accommodate up to 2\,000 students and offer core curriculum/academic transfer courses and career education in specialized business programs\, computer networking and security\, child development\, and more. Construction begins later this summer.\n\nACC is an open-door institution\, with everyone meeting eligibility criteria encouraged to enroll.
