DESCRIPTION:The Kyle/Buda Post #12058 will welcome U.S.A.F (Ret.) Major General Chris Adams Jr. to speak at their monthly open meeting on Thursday\, April 28 at 7:00 PM at the VFW Post located at 103 Front Street in Kyle.\n\n\n\nAdams' Air Force career spanned 31 years active duty\, 8\,000 flying hours and two tours in Vietnam. His flying included the Billy Mitchell B-25\, Mighty B-36\, B-52\, EC-135\, C-141\, the C-47 "Gooney Bird\," the T-49 "Saberliner" and several others.\n\n\n\nHe retired from the Air Force in the grade of Major General and Chief of Staff\, Strategic Air Command\, to accept an appointment as Associate Director\, Los Alamos National Later\, Adams became Vice President\, Government Systems\, Andrew Corporation\, which took him to the former Soviet Union\, including Russia\, Ukraine and Belarus for five years to coordinate the recovery of their Cold War degraded local and commercial communications systems.\n\n\n\nHis awards and honors include\, The National Distinguished Service Medal\, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal\, two Legions of Merit\, two Air Medals and numerous others.\n\n\n\nIn 2011\, Adams was honored with the Daughters of the American Revolution National Medal of Honor. He has been listed in Who's Who in America since 1982.\n\n\n\nAdams and his wife\, Alene\, are the proud parents of three daughters and one son. They recently moved to Kyle where their son\, Chris III\, wife Lisa\, and two daughters also reside.\n\n\n\nA German Shepard war dog and his owner will also be honored at this meeting. He bravely detected over 600 bombs in Iraq and survived a blast himself.
