SUMMARY:Plum Creek Watershed Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:Plum Creek Watershed Clean Up\n\n\n\n\nThe goal of this annual clean up project is to join with other communities across Texas to clean up Texas's waterways and Keep Texas Beautiful. In past years the Kyle Clean Up has been an educational event bringing awareness to pet waste\, recycling and being stewards of the Plum Creek Watershed that runs through the heart of Kyle.\nEast of IH-35\, the Plum Creek runs through hundreds of acres of park land and open space. During the rainy months of winter\, trash and debris washes into the creek and finds it's way along the banks in the parks. Since 2004\, this award-winning program has greatly improved the pollution levels in Plum Creek. The city parks that are involved during this event are Steeplechase Park\, Lake Kyle\, Waterleaf Park and the Plum Creek Preserve & Nature Trail.\nHeld the morning of the first Saturday of March\, March 1\, 2014\, volunteers are equipped with trash bags\, small hand tools and other necessary equipment to clean up the banks of the Plum Creek. Beginning at 9:30am\, these volunteers check in at the covered pavilion at Lake Kyle for their assignments.\nGenerally lasting until noon\, thousands of pounds of trash\, some recyclable\, get removed from the park land and trails. Dead trees and brush are removed and nature trails are groomed just in time for the busy spring and summer.\nGet a group of your friends\, co-workers or scout troop and head to Lake Kyle. All workers are rewarded with a pizza lunch upon conclusion.\nGet Directions to Lake Kyle\nThe Plum Creek Watershed Map\n\nSpecial Thanks to our Sponsors:
