DESCRIPTION:Visiting writers' events scheduled for fall 2014 and spring 2015.  Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center readings are held at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in Kyle\, Texas. The series is sponsored by Texas State University's Department of English\, the Lindsey Literary Series\, the Burdine Johnson Foundation\, and the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center.  The readings are free and open to the public.\n\n\n\nBen Fountain's story collection\, Brief Encounters with Che Guevara\, won the 2007 PEN/Hemingway Award and a Whiting Award. His novel\, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk\, a finalist for the National Book Award\, won the 2012 National Book Critics Circle Award\, and The Los Angeles Times Book Award.Currently he is the University Chair in Creative Writing at Texas State University.
